Summer 2016 Maker Events

When signing up for a workshop, please register EACH person who will be participating in making

 

Makerspace Open House (Does not require registration)

June 20, 2016 1:30pm-3:30pm

The open house days will be open to anyone who wants to just stop in, get a tour, or do some free style making. We will have 3-4 different activities for individuals to explore.Come tinker with your family and explore what the Makerspace has to offer! If you are under 16 please come with an adult.

Book Making Workshop

June 29, 2016 - 1:30pm-3:30pm - REGISTER

Ready to make your own book! This workshop is open to everyone 8 and up. We will have a couple different book styles to choose from so little ones can get in on the fun too. All kids under 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult to participate.

Ages 8 and up are recommended 

 

Coding Fun

July 12, 2016 - 1:30pm-3:30pm- REGISTER

Have an interest in coding? We are bringing in an expert for this workshop to help you develop some coding skills. Learn how to easily code an Arduino Uno to blink and explore several different avenues in which coding can take you. If you are already comfortable coding, come hang out with our expert, check out what he has made, and share what you know. Everyone will leave this workshop with some great ideas for their next coding project!

No coding experience needed.
Ages 10 and up are welcome!

 

Popsicle Stick Craft Day 

July 20, 2016​  10:00am-12:00pm - REGISTER

Come and explore all the amazing things that you can create with Popsicle Sticks! We will be providing the supplies for anyone interested in this workshop. There will be instructions for several different Popsicle Stick projects on each of the tables for you to reference while making. Bring a friend or family member to join in on all the fun we will be having at this workshop! There will be a 2 hour time frame to drop in and create, so feel welcome to stay the whole time or just for the time needed to finish your project.

Cardboard Crafts (Linkages)

July 26, 2016  1:30pm-3:30pm - REGISTER 

This is a cardboard activity that we did at the Tinkering Studio in San Francisco and we wanted to bring the fun to Tehama! This activity involves making simple machines and getting creative using cardboard. It is a lot of fun and everyone is welcome! There will be a 2 hour time frame to drop in and create, so feel welcome to stay the whole time or just for the time needed to finish your project

Duck Tape Fun

July 28, 2016 10:00am-12:00pm - REGISTER

Come and explore all the amazing things that you can create with Duck Tape! We will be providing the supplies for anyone interested in this workshop. There will be instructions for several different Duck Tape projects on each of the tables for you to reference while making. Bring a friend or family member to join in on all the fun we will be having at this workshop! ​Soft Circuits

August 3, 2016  1:30-3:30pm - REGISTER ​​

This workshop is open to anyone who likes to sew and wants to try something new and different! At this workshop we will be exploring electricity and sewing. Each person will make a quilt square that lights up using conductive thread and LED lights.This may sound strange, but it is a ton of fun and once finished this quilt will be displayed for all to see! 

Ages 8 and up are recommended
