Program Information and Registration
State Preschool Program
Tehama County Department of Education State Preschool programs implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and we strive to enhance children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. Our program fosters curiosity, originality, and self-esteem by focusing on each child’s individual abilities and interests. Our teachers support the children’s learning through child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, building on the strengths of each child.
We will foster the motivation of our children and encourage individuality to enhance our classroom cultures. We believe that all children are unique individuals who need a caring and stimulating environment in which to grow emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially.

Staff
Professional development for our staff is ongoing, intensive, and based upon best instructional practices. Site supervisors, teachers and assistants all hold current child development permits from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in accordance with their education and training in the field of early childhood.
Parent Involvement
Parent participation in children’s early learning supports school readiness and later academic success. Studies show parents who are involved in their child’s education create a positive connection between home and school.
It is our goal in the State Preschool program to involve parents in every aspect of our program – from volunteering in the classroom working directly with students, building children’s creativity and supporting healthy self-concept, to working behind the scenes creating an environment rich in concrete activities.
Assessments
Assessments are important as they allow teaching staff to identify key areas of learning that have been mastered by each individual child and key areas of learning that need additional instruction. Teachers keep parents informed of their child’s progress through daily check-ins, observations, and conferences twice a year.
